The first is a career foodservice contract management executive, and the latter is a nutrition expert with a passion for enhancing the food experience in healthcare. After spending years in the contract foodservice world, they noticed a significant problem: smaller facilities were caught in a tough spot. They needed a simple, budget-friendly, self-operated dining solution, but nothing was available.

The breakthrough idea? It was straightforward: better food, less hassle, and no kitchen needed. Carolyn observed the rise of consumer meal delivery services and realized that this model could completely transform healthcare dining. To make it happen, she and Rich developed two key innovations: a unique rethermalization heating unit—a clever device that warms frozen meals so evenly, they taste like they just came from a home kitchen—and an intuitive software system that takes care of all the complicated tasks like ordering, menu planning, and managing patient preferences effortlessly.

Today, Plated Foodservice is still under the care and operation of Carolyn, who is acting CEO, and she is committed to offering a modern foodservice solution that empowers small care teams to serve personalized meals with reliability and ease, demonstrating that you don’t need a large kitchen or extensive staff to restore dignity and deliciousness to the patient tray.
